June 10-15th: This year we will be attending a Week of Hope in Austin, TX. During the week we will focus on community service projects in the inner city of Austin. We may be handing out meals to homeless people, working in soup kitchens, or helping elderly or disabled people clean their homes or yards. The trip is arranged by Group Work Camps, which host work camps and community service projects all over the country. This year we are beginning a to take our first steps toward an active role in the community. We begin our journey by arranging a monthly Wednesday night visit to Windsor Place Nursing Home in Daingerfield. During that time, we visit our friends there; play BINGO, and award prizes to these residents. Most importantly, we are learning how essential it is to give back to our community. This is just the first step… We will keep you posted as we grow toward becoming active role models to our peers and the community we live in.
